By mac server you mean Mac OSX or ? DNS is what ? The entries at /etc/resolv.conf ?

Do you mean:

1) Set up a Mac Server to provide a DNS service

or

2) Change the DNS settings for a desktop Mac.

If it's 1) then you need to install "Server Admin" on either another Mac or the server itself, connect to the server via Server Admin, and then configure DNS as a service from the DNS tab within the app. Once configured, start the service with the green "Start Service" icon at the top of the pane.

If it's 2) then the settings for which DNS servers to use for your desktop Mac are in System Preferences>Network. Double Click your interface, and configure the DNS servers as appropriate in the TCP/IP tab.
