Question Download to unix/linux from excel spreadsheet

Hi all,
I am not a computer programmer nor a computer specialist but I do create some Excel speadsheets and I need to download the data generated from Excel to a Unix/linux programmed screen. Do you know if there is a way or a "trick" that could make this data transfer automated so it would prevent a user to keypunch manually the data.

Thanks to you all who could help me.

You need to be more specific. What do you mean by "download to a programmed screen"?
If what you are trying to accomplish is to simply open an .xls, either Star Office or Open Office can do that.

The screen is formatted with specific fields to receive data and this data is provided by the Excel spreadsheet. So my problem is how to transfer automatically from Excel to that screen, knowing that each field to receive a specific data. as an example; the information screen to recieve data has multiple fields such as "Part #, Quantity, Description, etc." and my spreadsheet contains all of this information but each content of the Excel cell must be followed by <return/enter> so the cursor in the screen will jump to the next field and then input the next data.
