The output file is empty. Please Help

Dear all,

Currently I writing a ksh script to perform some sql query. I already pipe results in a output file. But when I checked it, the output file is empty.

Below is part of the script that I wrote:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

function ssttal11
{
echo "Enter username for the database"
read username

echo "Enter password for the database"
read password

echo "Enter SQL statement"
read sqlstatement

SQL_PLUS_COMMAND="/app/oracle/bin/sqlplus -s ${username}/${password}@ssttal11"

statement=${sqlstatement}

echo "$statement" | $SQL_PLUS_COMMAND
echo "$statement" | $SQL_PLUS_COMMAND > /migration/folder_a/sql_query.out
}

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do I left anything else? The code seems fine. But it doesn't shows the sql query results in the sql_query.out

Appreciate you all if can help me on this.

Thank you.

try giving the path from root

correct .....use complete path for the log file .. i experienced it few times and giving complete path helped in this kind of scenario.

The one that I specified is already the complete path. But it still doesn't work.

Try some other command in place of SQL command. like ls, cat etc. Check whether its working.
Most of the time it happens that we dig for answer at wrong places. Smilie

If its working then problem might be with you SQL command you are passing.
