Bug creating your own commands

hi,
i have to type certain commands again and again eg:

ps -ef | grep xyz

is there any way to replace the whole command by a short form
like i just do :
$ psl
and it give me the same output as
$ps -ef | grep xyz

where can we store these commands .....
on unix system and create there synonym.

am using solaris 8 , 10 and redhat linux , also hp unix and AS400

have a look at the man page for the alias command - should be what you're after

e.g.:

# m a
bash: m: command not found

# alias m="more"

# m a
a:1
b:2
c:3

put standard ones in your .bashrc or equivalent to be read on shell startup
# 3
