need shell script that checks your user id and your permission level

I just need the shell script that checks your user id and your permission level. I sort of have one to check the user id but I don't like it. Can anyone help with this?

Just use the command: id

I would like it to be that simple. But I have to write the shell script that checks my user ID and tells if I am an administrator or not.

I also have another one to write that scans files in my home directory and gives files execute permissions (only) if the the files do not have such permissions.

I would rather just use whoami or id much easier.

Thanks

Your ID can be got from "id", as noted above, but what is a "permission level"?
