Bug Accessing a modem on another Solaris host

Hi!
I have 2 Solaris 9 servers (server 1 and server 2) on my network, both have a serial port with dial in/out modems.
On server 1 there are always problems with the modem connection, so I really would like server 1 to use the the modem(s) on server 2, when sending something.
Is there some way of defining a 'remote modem' for server 1, so that every time server 1 wants to send something it will actually use the modem on server 2?
Thank you in advance for your advice!
Best regards
GSF

What client program is using the modem? How is it configured? Does it *have* to use a serial port directly?

Typically if the client program calls another program to do the communications you could replace that with ssh to call the other machine.

Hello Porter!
The client program is Hylafax.
It is kind of a virtual device specification that I want to implement, so that
the calling program really is not aware of that the modem it is calling is not directly attached to the server.

Can you not run Hylafax on server 2?

Hello Porter!
It is not so simple. I need to define a virtual modem on server 1 that addresses the modem on server 2. It is not a matter of using applications on server 2.
