Well

find . -size 110c -name "*testing*" -print | xargs -n 1 rm -i

doesnt work...

What it finds is 3 files, and thats correct. But the prompts to delete are all bunched up on one line. looks like:

rm: Remove ./file.test.2007? rm: Remove ./file.test.20071(flashing prompt)

I have to press enter to get back to the main prompt and nothing else happens. How do I make them ask me one by one? Thanks.

Porter or anyone? I definitely need to the prompt for each file before removing.

Hi,

Yes the problem is that "rm" is asking for confirmation on stdin rather than the current terminal, and we're using stdin for the list of files.

Code:
#!/bin/sh
TTY=`tty`

find . \( -size 110c -o -size 150c \) -a -name "*testing*" | while read N
do
     rm -i $N <$TTY
done

Thanks I'm getting closer. Your suggestion works when I change it to this:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
TTY=`tty`

find . -size 110c -a -name "*testing*" | while read N
do
     rm -i $N <$TTY
done

But the way you posted:

Code:
#!/bin/sh
TTY=`tty`

find . \( -size 110c -o -size 150c \) -a -name "*testing*" | while read N
do
     rm -i $N <$TTY
done

I get this error:

find: 0652-017 (-size is not a valid option.

Anyone know why it doesnt work for me?

I need to code 2 sets of "Do" to check for more file sizes which is pretty inefficient.

Please don't bump your posts.

Are you leaving a space between "(" and "-size"?
