Question UNIX under MS-Windows

I use Connectix Virtual PC 4.2 to install SCO UNIX 5.0.5 under my Windows2000 server.
In fact, I install this new OS with virtual CD(*.iso) by Daemon Tools 3.00, not the physical CD-ROM.
The devices management reports the virtual CD-ROM is "Virtual DAEMON SCSI Controller".
When I install UNIX, the wizard reports there is NO response from the device I assigned.
I tried many methods. Choosing "IDE CD-ROM" is always incorrect.
I really don't know how to use this software with virtual CD-ROMs, please give me a proper way to solve the problem.Smilie

I didn't know this product was available but I went to the Connectix Company web-site and reviewed their product. I did not see where they supported SCO OpenServer 5.0.5 as a host. I did see where they supported Linux. I am not saying that you cannot run SCO Openserver as a host, just didn't see where the company supported it.

An alternative to loading the O/S via CD-ROM. You can load the images from the CD-ROM on a different machine that is networked to your Windows 2000 server and you can actually load the O/S via the network - TCP/IP. I think you can find detailed instructions from the SCO website on this. www.sco.com.

Thank you for replying my posts. In fact, I don't know whether the software supports the SCO OpenServer 5.0.5. I have
the CD-ROM, but no UNIX CD. I downloaded the virtuial CD image file(*.iso) through the Internet, just planned to install it
under MS-Windows(I don't want dual-boot). But I think if the problem detecting CD-ROM is hard to solve, I can use floppy to
instead. But with the software virtual PC, I need the image file(*.vfd). I don't have the UNIX enviornment to build an boot floppy, so I am seeking the downloads. Where can I d/l it?

Ok... let me explain this... SCO Openserver 5.0.5 requires 2 parts to load the O/S. Part 1 is a 3.5" floppy that is a "boot disc" Part 2 is a CD-ROM that contains the media. You should be able to download the images from the sco's website. There are proceedures that you must follow to create a bootable diskette. Go back and search their Self-Help and Knowledgebase for help on that.

It is said that SCO UNIX 5.0.5 installation wizard supports to boot from CD-ROM(5.0.4 does not). No floppy needed anymore I think.

Why not burn the ISO to disk and try again?
Heck, send it to me, I'll burn it!

GOOD idea. But I don't have CD-RW, either the money to buy. I think my friends could share it with me. I will try later. Thank you for replying.
