UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Hi All,
I am currently stuck with a loop and if someone can suggest me a way out . I will be very thankful.

suppose I have a filewhich contains data like:
ABDE345678 24567 JQ12345 8 10 J12
CDEP456789 24564 JQ65432 67 10 J12
I have named this file as print.txt

Now My script is as follows:

The problem with this script is that It basically searches both the files at the same time and thus cannot find it :
something like this
-f /home/rooh/ABDE345678 CDEP456789

Can somebody kindly suggest me how to go abt it.
Because I want it to first pick up one file and print it & then look for the second or so on...

Try a for loop...

for each in 1 2 3
do
echo $each
done

for files in `ls`
do
echo $files
done

That will loop through each entry in the list, doing whatever you want with it...

I'm in a similar quandry - I want to cat all files in a directory with a specific suffix together. There are however 180000 files in the directory 96000 of which I want to cat.

ls *.mysuffix returns too many args

ls is ok - returns names of all 180000 files

can I use a for loop to step thru the specific files catting the ones meeting a criteria together?

for file in `find /mypath -type f -name "*.mysuffix"`
do
cat $file
done

for csh script do :

foreach file(`find /mypath -type f -name "*.mysuffix"`)
cat $file
end
