how to disable auditd daemon

I want to disable the auditd daemon on my unix server. Running this daemon on the server causes to system to crash afer every two month. Could any one let me know step by step how to disable it and is there any implication of doing it?

How about you tell us what type of server?

Different Operating Systems managed daemons differently.

Results from "uname -a" would be good.

The server is V5.1 2650 alpha. This problem starts coming when we enable the audit on this server. Other server where audit is disable, does not ahve any problem.
