UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Yes I know this question has been asked several times but I would like to start learning Unix and wasn't sure what distribution was good to start (Free BSD, Unbuntu..etc). My boss asked today did I know anything about Linux cause he was updating the skill set database for all the employees. He asked several other employees in my department and some said yes. I just didn't like to see a blank spot next to my name when looking at the database so that's what led me here.

I heard Unbuntu was a good one to start learning with. I have a lot of Unix Adimins that I work with and the first thing they gave me was Unbuntu. I am just trying to confirm that here.

I've never used Ubuntu rather redhat and redhat based ... but any would be just fine, believe me
