Data Help!

I have a 75 mhz cpu with Mandrake-Linux installed. When I start it after i log in how do I do anything? It has just a place to type stuff but I don't know how to do anything. How do I? Also, if I wanted how would i revert back to Windows 95?

Read a book.

Or visit the Frequently asked questions forum here for some good links.

Okay, I'll do that, but can you tell me the directory command?

Try typing

man intro

on the command line. This should give you a baisc overview of the commands that you can use. This may not be available for you depending on your specs. (I'm assuming you don't have a login andme or password required or that you know these).

A few basics would be

pwd (tell me which directory I am in)
ls (list the files and directories in the current directory)
cd <dir name> (change to this diectory).
cd .. (change up one level.

All these are covered in the intro...so try this first.

If you are really serious about learing UNIX, you need to get a few books.

One good book that describes commands is "UNIX in a Nutshell' by O'Reilly.

Here are a few websites.

You should register at www.mandrakecampus.com and teach yourself. It's free and will give you what you need to know.
