if you want to find the no of files in Directory you can use the below command

For count the Files in Dir

ls -rtl | grep "^-r"

For count the Sub DIR in the current DIR you can use the below command

ls -rtl | grep "^-d'

if you want to find out the no of files in the particulare folder (DIR)m you can use this below command

FL=`find $HOME/$DR -type f -print | wc -l`
echo $FL --> returend the no of files in the $DR folder in $HOME/ path

DRR=`find $HOME/$DR -type d -print | wc -l`

echo $DRR --> returend the no of directories in the $DR folder in $HOME/ path
