Data script & Excel help needed

Folks;
I'm writing a script to extract fields from a log file then export the results to Excel sheet. I need help ASAP.

Here's a sample of the log file with "|" as a delimiter:

Why don't you FTP the file the way it is and import into Excel specifying
vertical bar "|" as field delimiter?

Moe,
Please be very specific on the criteria you want to extract records from the file.

I am still not clear on your requirement.

Please give a sample of several different records and what criteria do you want
to extract the data.

Ok;
let's say I want to extract every line from the log file that related to "Real Value" space & as you see from the log line i have below, there's a few fields i want to extract like "date, real value, last editor & edit's e-mail"
and whatever i extract, i want to export into Excel sheet.
