User Shell script

I'm very new at this -- HELP!

I need to know how to terminate a users session when they exit a shell script menu?

Any ideas would be much appreciated!

You use a signal for this... sending a kill signal to the login shell at the appropriate time. I've done this for C programs many times (for security reasons)...... I'm pretty sure you can do the same thing with shell scripts.... you have to have a way (algorithm) to know the process ID of the parent process(es).

Or you could do something like this:
At the very end of their login file (.profile for sh and ksh, .bash_profile for bash, or .login for csh), put a line:
exec /path/to/your/menu

This replaces their current shell with your menu, so when they leave the menu, it is treated as if their shell.

Make sure to put "trap"'s in your script, so the users can't break out...
Check the man page for whatever shell you're using for trap syntax.
