":shell" in Vim and Elvis

":shell" in Vim and Elvis
When I type :shell in the Vim editor it takes me to the shell of course and everything looks as it should..
(Using shell from Vim)

$ set | grep PS1
PS1=$'[\\u@\\h:\\w] '
$

But when i use Elvis and type :shell I get in to the shell as expected but...
(Using shell from Elvis)

$set | grep PS1
PS1=$'\\s-\\v\\$ '
$

My prompt looks different and I can't use my aliases I've written in the ~/.profile file..

Any suggestions on how to fix this ?

Just source your .pfoile by typing: . ~/.profile

(Thats "dot space dot profile" -- don't forget the first dot)
