Spindoctor,
The two above files are totally different from the one you presented
in the first specification.
I was under the assumption that the file had backslashes:

They have backslashes when viewed through unix; In the most recent example, I had cut and pasted them from a regular text editor and the backslashes don't appear.

If the file has backslashes, did you try my last solution:
