UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Happy Holidays everybody.
I'm trying to install oracle 8i personal on my desktop, but I don't know how to do it at the command prompt. Heck, i don't even know how to access my cdrom drive from the command prompt. Could somebody give me a hint to get me started. I would tried to do it with Xwindows but the resolution's all blown up to a gian size and I can't get it to work correctly. I already posted another thread concerning that issue. But if someone in here would like to offer some advice on that I would appreciate it also. Thank you very much.

First off - go to http://otn.oracle.com and sign up for a free account.
Next , go to:

Find your release, and read as much as you can! Whee!

suse 7.2

mount /dev/cdrom

cd /media/cdrom

ls -la





Can't help you with the Oracle install... Never done that before!
