Values in $PATH

Hi

When I type echo $PATH ,the output is

Does PATH contains so many values;or what does this mean??

Ok,if it is of multiple values,which value it'll take by default??

Whenever you execute a command the directories listed in the PATH environment variable are searched for the presence of the command.

The directories are searched in the order as shown.

If your PATH environment variable would be empty you wouldn't be able to execute a single command except for SHELL build-in commands, or by specifying the FULL path of the command.

So there isn't a default directory for all those directories listed in PATH.

However, if a specific command exists on different locations on your system, the one in the directory listed first in your PATH will be executed.
