I tried this but it did not work...I replaced "rm" with "ls" just to test it ..

ls `ls -l *.dbf | awk -v dy="$DAY" ' $0 ~ dy {print $NF}'`

Did it work for you ?

Its working for me.Check the value of DAY variable.

This is the entire code

if [ "$DAY" -gt "9" ]

DAY=`date | awk '{print $2 " " $3-1}'`

fi
echo $DAY
ls `ls -l *.dbf|awk -v dy="$DAY" ' $0 ~ dy {print $NF}'`
