UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Ok.. for some reason my system loves to halt every so many seconds.. everytime it halts.. it halts for about 1-2 seconds.. completely PAUSING the whole system (my mouse freezes and keyboard freezes) for about 1-2 seconds.. it's starting to piss me off.. what do you think might be the problem? i'm running FreeBSD 6.1 on a athlon 64 x2 4400+, 2gb ddr.. Thank you.

Can you paste a copy of your crontab in here please.

Also is there anything obvious in the error log?

Is it paging too much ? Check vmstat ( if it works , it works on most unix implimentations ). Or it may be running out of CPU !
