Need to change my machine name
I would need to modify my machine name :
When i give "w" command, i am getting following message

USER TTY FROM LOGIN@ IDLE JCPU PCPU WHAT
krishnag pts/59 gunasekar 1:25pm 25:15 0.03s 0.03s -csh.

I would need to change my machine name: "gunasekar" to
"Gunaseelan".

Can anyone help?

Hostname is the program that is used to either set or display the current host, domain or node name of the system.

Code:
hostname Gunaseelan

try this

setuname -s host_name
setuname -n host_name

In almost 80 % of the cases ( depending on your OS ) you will have to reboot the machine to take effect.
