how to get disks info in solaris9
hi:
I know its a dummy question
do you have any idea how i can get information about the HDs I have on my solaris server?? like how many disks and the size of each??
the prtdiag doesnt tell about disks.

Use format

If you don't want to go into format, I think you can type echo | format
this will list all the disks and their sizes and return your prompt without going into format.

I got the output, everything was clear thanks to your help.. except for disks12 and 13??
I have all disks on SUN Storedge3510.
so How can I know more about these two disks like their sizes.. and what's different about them.

for disk12 and disk13:

if you have the sun raid manager installed --- check if /usr/lib/osa exists ---

1. get your controller devicenames

/usr/lib/osa/bin/lad | awk '{print $1}'

2. check the drives attached to the controller
Code:
/usr/lib/osa/bin/drivutil -i $controllername

if you have something else other than the sun raid manager, you're gonna have to check the documentation on that software as i have none here that i could look at ...

rm6(/usr/lib/osa) is for A1000 disk arrays..

To get the info you want use /usr/sbin/sccli

ie:

From the output above you can see that d80 is ld3 on one of my 3510 arrays which is a 955GB RAID5 volume and d81 to d87 are soft partitions on d80(which is ld3).
Now that you know that much you can work out what partitions are using the disk
