ld3 is logical disk 3 which is made up of 8 disks configured as RAID5.

On my system I have 5 x 3510 arrays(4 JBOD and 1 dual raid controller 3510)
On these arrays I have grouped drives to make up Logical disks, these are the ld numbers. I use disksuite to create soft partitions on these logical drives.

I used ld3, which is metadevice d80 in my example.
