Question sed command applicable?

Find the messages with BLUE header, collect the telno, and dump to a file.

file below:

header 1 BLUE 11/20/01
body telno 555
body room1
trailer 1 xxx

header 2 BLUE 11/20/01
body telno 444
body room2
trailer 2 xxx

header 3 RED 11/20/01
body telno 666
body room3
trailer 3 xxx

header 4 BLUE 11/20/01
body telno 333
body room4
trailer 4 xxx

header 5 YELLOW 11/20/01
body telno 222
body room5
trailer 5 xxx

The objective is to collect all the telephone numbers (telno) within the messages with BLUE header. Is there a way using sed to filter the output utilizing the header (BLUE) parameter?

Output file:

telno 555
telno 444
telno 333

This is work-related, not a homework. Thanks.

Are you using GNU utilities? If so, it's as easy as:
Code:
grep -A1 BLUE input-file | grep telno | awk '{print $2" "$3}' >output-file

If not, please post back the results of `uname`. It may be easier to help...

Try this script:
Code:
#! /usr/bin/sed -nf
/BLUE/ { N
         s/[^\n]*\n//
         s/body *\(telno *[0-9]*\)/\1/p
       }
