quick question
from command prompt I did grep two words on a same line for eg: grep abc | grep xyz and I got tht particular line, but I want to know when I vi that file how to directly search for that particular line? I appreciate if any one can provide answer, thanks in advance

and why cannot you do it all in 'vi'?

If you know the order in which the words appear in the line, inside vi you should be able to simply do:

/word1*word2

If you don't know which word comes first, I don't think there's a vi command that will search for 2 different strings on the same line. Guess you could grep it first, then look for that string inside vi.
