Steps to Add Windows XP to Samba server

Hi All,

I have setup Samba on Redhat linux ES 3.0 server but unable to add Windows XP professional to samba server so please let me know steps for the same.

I'm not sure what you mean. You mean you can't mount Windows XP shares from samba?

You first have to configure smb.conf manually or using swat. Let's say you want to add a share named test, then smb.conf would have a section almost like this:

        path = /test
        valid users = you
        admin users = root, you
        create mask = 0666
        force create mode = 0666
        security mask = 0666
        directory mask = 0777
        force directory mode = 0777

If your samba server is also a DC then you can add your WINDOWS machine to the domain and it will become easy to access you shares.
