pushd?

Hello

Can someone tell me difference between the command cd an pushd?

I dont get it! Smilie

well, if I am not wrong, I think cd takes you to the directory set in the variable CDPATH. Pushd gives the flexibility of putting any directory on ur stack and move to that directory by using popd.

What shell is this, csh? If so, pushd will push a directory onto the stack and cd just changes the last entry on the stack. Also "pushd" by itself swaps the top two entries on the stack. And pushd +n will rotate the stack n entries.
