Tab completion gubbins

Hello all

How do you configure unix terminal to list files as you tab complete. I'm using a unix terminal at work and when i first started tab complete on a folder would list all matches if there were more than one.

eg.

monkey.xml
mon.xml
monkeyboy.xml

in one folder if i cd into that folder

cd shared/.../xml/ (then hitting tab would list all files in folder and allow me to continue with my command)

also cd shared/.../xml/monk <tab> would list monkey.xml and monkeyboy.xml

I think faffing around with my .aliases or .cshrc since has caused it to stop how do i change it back?

Thanks in advance.

Which shell you are using? It depends on many things, also on your EDITOR env variable, check your EDITOR and shell, post the output here:
Code:
echo $0
echo $EDITOR
