UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

Our consultant has asked for the following and it shouldn't be to hard but I don't understand too well what he is saying here. I have used mount before for simple needs but this seems out of my league.

We have 7 AIX LPARs currently (each named P01..PO7). Here is the question:

"Can we have another mount point /apps/psoft/indexes created on P06 and exported as NFS mount point to P01 and P04. Disk space 20 gigs.

This would be used to store verity search indexes for purchasing module and others."

The part that really throws me is the export part. I would appreciate any and all responses. Thanks.

What your consultant is asking you is to share a filesystem on one LPAR. Just for you to understand, NFS exports is to unix what Windows shares to Windows (though is not the same).
To export, give "smit nfs" on P06. Assumming you have NFS service configured, go to " Network File System (NFS)" then "Add a Directory to Exports List". There, fill, at least, the first three fields. Next, go to P01 and P04, give "smit nfs" go to " Network File System (NFS)", then "Add a File System for Mounting" and fill, at least, the first three fields. Thats all.
