cpio can't read iso9660 filesystems. What is the purpose of the '< /dev/cd0' , especially when you seem to be giving it filenames already?

You will need to mount the CD to make it visible to UNIX. Check out "man mount".

You'll probably need something like "mount -ro /dev/cd0 /cdrom" where cd0 (or something similar) is the name of you cdrom drive and /cdrom (or something similar or, perhaps, /mnt) is a free mount point (looks like an empty directory). Then cd to the mount point (or ls it) and you should be able to see your files. When you've done, cd off the mount point and do "umount /cdrom" (or whatever the mount point is called)

cheers

Computer

Use mount /dev/cdrom /yourdir to read the files from the cd.

I faced this problem :

$ /etc/mount -ro /dev/cd0 /cdrom
mount: no entry for '/cdrom' in /etc/default/filesys
usage: mount [[-v] [-r] [-f fstyp] [-m] [-o options] special directory]
$
