One question about ls(1)
Hi,

When I see man page of different UNIX commands, I find something like this:

ls(1), vi(1) etc.

What is meant by (1) here? Can any body pls explain this.

When someone refers to 'rn(1)' ... the number in parentheses mean?

Thanks Perderabo for the link. It worked for me.

Just to add some information, from my side here.
I think by default system displays man page from section 1, as in case of time. Time is user-level commad as well as system call and liberary function. But man time without any argument will display man page for time(1).
