Ypmatch

I cannot use my id in ypmatch.

wats is the use of this. to whom I need to check it out to get done

Code:
ypmatch ssmfkfaliases
 
ypmatch:  can't match ssmfkf.
          Reason:  no such map in server's NIS domain

Can you edit your posting using code tags? Is there supposed to be a space in the string "ssmfkfaliases"?

As per the ypmatch manpage, the command requires at least two arguments, the first to the second-to-last arguments are the map lookup keys, and the last is the map itself. The list of maps can be generated with ypwhich.

Please consider using getent, as in getent aliases ssmfkf or getent passwd ssmfkf.

Using NIS-ypmatch, ypcat, Lname, Gname to get username/key

Hello, We can get the full info by typing: ypmatch username passwd aaaa : yyyy: ... ... : LastName Gname : ... ... However, I'd like to know how could we get the username based on LastName and Given name please? Thanks a lot, ly (3 Replies)
