Question Joining two or more binary files together

Is there a way to join two or more binary files together without corrupting the data?

I've searched the forums, and googled etc. but the only commands that get mentioned are 'cat', which only works for text files and 'join'. According to the man pages join is a 'relational database operator', nothing to do with merging binary files together (as far as I can see anyway).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Mark.

PS: Using ksh on HP UNIX if that makes any difference.

Not sure. But dd might be of help to you.

See the man pages of dd.

wondering how can 'dd' be used.

its an utility to create a disk image or to create a disk from the existing image.

Picked this from the archives...

Clever hacks using dd.

Modifying binary file by editing Hex values ? and making a .sh wait for user input

No such thing as a "binary" file in Unix. A file is just a file. The cat command will work fine.
