Word Wrap .CSV Fils

Is there a generic method for applying word wrap to all cells for a .csv file?

Hi Jimmyf,

Not entirely sure what you are trying to achieve here, "word wrap in all cells" can you provide a bit more detail please.

When a .cvs file is opened on Windows there is a button which will word wrap all text. Just wondered if there was an equivalent method or UNIX command. I have some awk and sed script that achieve this but they never seem to work reliably.

Hi Jimmyf,

I presume you don't actually want to alter the file, just the display?

How are you opening the file?

Hi Gull04,
The file is ultimately opened in Windows. But was hoping to edit the file in UNIX so that the formatting was ok without any intervention.

Hi Jimmyf,

There are a number of editors that you can use that will wrap - even "vi" or "vim" will wrap depending on the size of the window that you open.

But if you want something better, you could open the text files in OO Writer or LibreOffice Writer there are loads of editors as well - most of them will wrap.
