Backup Script

Hi,

My SCO Unixware 7.1.1 box is setup to run an EOD backup script, which is as follows:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

start End-of-day
compress $BASE TO /home/compdir
write /home/compdir to DATTAPE
end

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Path for above script is /home2/Rev83/home/SCRIPTS/backup and $BASE=/home2/Rev83

I want to know about the original code of this script, i know that in 2ndline this script is compressing $BASE to /home/compdir, but what "TO" means here? and what "write" means in the 3rd line. I know system uses cpio to create archive on /dev/rct0 but i dont know the exact parameters and code.

Any one will help me to identify this.

Regards,
Tayyab
