Try to use -f to look for a file

Hi i am try to find a find using a if loop i here is what i did

Code:
if [ -f != /path/to/file  ]
then
echo "test succeded"
else
echo " test failed " 
fi

can i use {-f !=} is this the right way, if not correct me.

No, it should be if [ ! -f /path/to/file ]

Try:-

[ ! -f /path/to/file  ]

Close, but try using:-
Code:
if [ -f /path/to/file ]
then
   echo "test succeded"
else
   echo " test failed "
fi

You would negate the test with a ! like this:-
Code:
if [ ! -f /path/to/file ]
then
   echo "test succeded"
else
   echo " test failed "
fi
