Lab-env for Veritas Volume Manager

Hi members,

I am trying to install veritas storage foundation on centos and failed many times.. tried with solaris and possible combination and failed with errors.

could someone help me to install veritas on any UNIX OS to practise the volume management.

Can you make sure that your OS is one supported :
Go to the following website sort dot symantec website.

Bottom right hand corner, you will see Quick Links

The 7th on the list is the matrix for what is supported (the one just above that is the product documentation)


Then specify which product you want to install and see if your system meets the requirements.


Once that has been done, please check the documentation (Installation Guide) on pre-reqs for the system (patch wise and software wise).



Lastly, run the "installer" script (after counting the DVD or after extracting the archive ...)


If there are errors, they will be logged in a specific log file.
During the installation process, this file will be displayed.

In this log file, it will tell you very specifically why the installation failed.

If you still have problems, please show me the error message (or messages) so I can sort it out for you

Thanks Niel,
Your steps helped to narrow down the issue and successfully installed on rhel5.7. It's simple. But the perl error created confusion and not explaining about compatibility. I think this error message should show more explanation.
