I hear that google is making a linux based OS called GooOS is this true?

I think this is more rumour and speculation than anything concrete judging by the blog posts referencing GooOs.

in any case if it is linux based, how does it matter. linux is a good OS. dont think Google will want to put a hand in making an OS. their strategy is to take risks in making something that no one has touched. The risk here is the speculation of its utility.

I agree it dose seem to be a rumour. I read some of those blogs also.

I was sitting in a Patient first this morning waiting to get an antibiotic for the sinus infection from he##. I opened up one of the obligatory magazines there, a copy of Time. It had a comic with two people watching TV.

"What are you watching?"
"A show about something that is gobbling everything in its path."
"The Blob?"
"No, it's a documentary about Google."

Just struck me as funny.
