Power QNX Unix - WHELP!

Hi Guys,

This site is great for Unix Gurus and Newbies (like me) alike!

Anyway, anybody had experience with an OLD QNX? ver. 4.238? I know it's old, that is why we are migrating the data but vendors can't connect to it. Probably because of the incorrect gateway defined in it.

Anyway to display the gateway and how to change it? Special Thanks! Smilie

Never even heard of it until your question. A quick search around the Internet didn't help much but QNX is still around - your first option may be to purchase a support contract.

Your second option, read the documentation at qnx - took me a while to find it.

Your third option, try some of the following after checking your QNX man pages(according to what I did find, it's suppose to be a close UNIX environment).

"netstat -nr" - should show the routing table configured
/etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny - should be configured to allow or deny certain IPs or IP ranges. This may be where you need to change something to allow the vendors access - you would need to know the IP range that they are coming from. Also get with your network folks - the firewall(s) may be blocking them from getting to your server.
ifconfig - read man page for how this command may help

Hi RTM,

Sorry, been late replying to your post because of the holidays. Anyway, tried the netstat -nr before but it specifies the IP address of the machine itself as the gateway. This I couldn't quite understand.

I can't consult the man pages as there aren't any. I am just new here at work and they lost all references long ago. Smilie

The files /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny do not exist and the network guys already said firewalls has been opened and the vendor can go in to another server so that proves it.

This is indeed close Unix, but some commands in this old box are being rejected mainly due to parameters.

And yes, I've been to QNX website lotsa times before but not much help.

I guess purchasing a support from them would be the last straw, but still best to keep looking as the problem is only due to connectivity.

Thank you very much for you help!

The 'man' pages are the UNIX help files, you can't really lose them, they're invoked by typing man and then the command. I believe it uses vi to show them, you exit by typing a q, you don't need to hit : or <enter>

Hi Cymon,

Sorry, I thought 'man' is the manual. Thanks for clarifying that up.
