NFS mount problem

Hello,
I'm trying to create an NFS mount on server1 to server2. From the man pages I think I'm doing it right:

mount server2:/dev/vg60/lvol607 /net1
nfs mount: server1:/dev/vg60/lvol607: Permission denied

Do I need to provide login credentials to server 2 somehow? What am I missing?

Thanks!!!

First, please confirm which server is the one sharing out the drive and which is mounting it as a NFS mount. Also post your OS and version.

Second, check that you have shared out the mount to the other server. If server1 is the system with the partition to be shared, check the man page for share (assuming Solaris since you have posted before with that OS). You can use the share command from command line but if this is suppose to be permanent, then add your entry to /etc/dfs/dfstab.

When you do share the partiton, make sure you share it out to only those servers you need it on - don't allow read/write unless absolutely needed.

If server1 has no other partitions shared out, then you will probably need to either reboot or run the nfs script in /etc/rc3.d for nfs.server after putting your entry in /etc/dfs/dfstab.

On the other server, you need to make sure your mount point is there (/net1) before mounting. Then try your mount command again.
