Hi, i need cut a file.

i have a file lenght 100. i need cut it to 75 lenght.
when cut should not use any auxiliary file for space

how can i do it. thanks for help!

Look at your system's man page for the ftruncate() function.

Yes, that function is a standard UNIX system call, so it should work on any system - at least it works on any UNIX and Linux that i am aware of.

If you want to do that at shell level you should read the man page of the cut command. Btw., could you please check your spelling? I don't care for the occasional typo (my own typing is far from being perfect) but your posts are hardly decipherable at all.

As a rule of thumb: give your postings as much consideration as you expect us to put into an answer. You don't want us to make any errors in suggesting solutions to you either, do you?
