time zone and cron solaris 9

There is a posting similar to this but it does not list what resolved the issue.

When I log into the server, it shows the correct timezone (edt) but when jobs run from cron, it shows GMT.

Unix admin is looking for a solution.

I am looking for a short term workaround to get the jobs running in cron to see the correct time zone until the cron daemon can be set correctly.

I tried TZ=US/eastern ; export TZ
but cron still picks up GMT.

Any suggestions?

/etc/TIMEZONE is supposed to be and symbolic link to /etc/default/init. The shells login scripts work off the former while init and cron work off the latter. It sounds like one is right and the other wrong somehow.

But exactly how did you try reset the TZ in your cron job? That sounds like it should have worked.

exactly as I have it in my previous posting

TZ=US/eastern
export TZ

US/eastern is what I see when I echo $TZ

but you gave me an idea to execute ./etc/TIMEZONE in my script and it seems to work.
