The ^M a CR (Carriage Return) is a Control Character

You can remove carriage return in your file using below tr command:
Code:
tr -d '\r' < infile > outfile

(Talk about minimalist info, whatever "script" is...)

^M is Ctrl-M == <CR> (Carriage Return).

You are in a Windows, (TM), environment?

Or it may as well be a literal caret plus the letter "M". We may never know what is inside "script".

I am running this
Code:
script

command in the HP Unix Environment.

The reason why you see carriage return while making typescript of your terminal session is because you hit "return" key after each command that you type.

So it is a normal to see CR in the script command output.

If you want to get rid of them in the file, you can use the tr command that I posted above.

Now I get you. You're referring the [icode}script[/icode] command, not to some script you wrote. Smilie

Terminals can emulate LF differently; Some use LF, others CR, others CR+LF.

Try with some of the recommendations from the previous posts in this thread.
