Question Solaris 8 installation slices

Anyone know if SUN recommends users to install the root parition on 1 single slice or break out the /var , /etc, /opt etc on separate slices?

What if i only have a single hdd that is only 2 GB

I can't comment on Sun's specific recomendation, but I would suggest splitting off /var at minimum, as it is likely to grow and you don't want it to fill up your root disk. I also split off /opt, but leave /etc and /usr on the root file system so they will be there in single user mode.
