What do you think the best linux software is.

Im am interested in switching to linux, I am sick of dealing with windows. I know a decent amount about computer, and alot about windows. But not much about Unix. Although i am learing it for school. for school we use fedora core which I find cool and interesting. But in your opinion what i the best linux, or the one you would recommend...

OS v's OS and similar threads are not allowed by rule 8.

Also if you use the search function you will find that similar questions have been asked and answered ad nauseum in the past.

There are many distros of Linux and most people have their favourites - there is no clear *best* linux as such. Try knoppix - this can run off the cd so you do not have to install it to try it out. You can get that here. Then you can go for one of the other flavours like Fedora, Slackware, SuSE.. just take your pick.
