How can I create an excel file from a txt file using shell script. Please do a help for me.

if the data is in txt file, then how it can be stored one word per cell in the excel sheet. plz reply me.

Hi Milton,

It is not that data is store per cell, it is only displayed per cell.
Believe me, save your text with each column delimited by comma. and give the extension .csv excel will show you data as you require.

Thanks, but not sure I follow.

I use this command to create my Excel file:
cat tmpfile*_2 >> excel.xls
