@mirwasim please note that the break statement is for terminating the execution of inner infinite while loop.

So once the file is not in use, the outer for loop should pick the next file.

Set xtrace and verbose and debug your script if you find any issues with execution flow. I believe you will be able to figure out a solution.

The for X in filename* would not have not-yet-existing filenames on its list and thus could not be able to "pick next" - so make sure you know the filenames to be transferred an provide this list to the for loop.

Like RudiC mentioned before the file names will not be existing when the script started running, so the for loop is not gonna pick next.

Do you know the file names that are gonna get delivered? if yes, then use a while loop:
