The output clearly shows a PID (20702), that means the file is definitely in use.

Check if you are looking at the right file:

You need to run the fuser cmd from within the while loop. What you do now in your code snippet is get the procid, never modify it again, and test against that constant value, which will not change...

Bipinajith I checked many time , file transfer was complete and there was no PID existing..still it was showing file in use

Please do as RudiC posted. Put procid=$( fuser "$file" ) inside while loop.

Altho a bit offtopic, but i believe rsync is the best tool for the job.

It reduces the overhead of scripting and is available on every possible os out ther e, having options one would need to write thousands of lines of shell code to imitate.
