UNIX for Dummies Questions & Answers

I have AIX5.1
I was asked to set up a cron script to send a email containing a CSV file regularly to to a user from the AIX box .I have set up cron scripts for sure but I am not sure of using sendmail. I am not sure how to do this Or even how to send a email from it using sendmail which I believe is set up on it.
I searched the forums but did not quite find what I need.
Could someone guide me in the right direction.

Use mailx, which will forward the message so it gets out through sendmail. Look in the FAQ, there is a topic about sending attachments with mailx.

Code:

/usr/sbin/sendmail someone@someplace.com < /path/to/file.csv

is the syntax to use in cron. If it has to be an attachment dangral already answered the question above.

I found this below but I am not sure how to change the mime type ? So I can send it as a attachment.

mailx -s "Subject" email@xxx.com < uuencode_file

has no flags to tell the mailer to send the file as an attachment and sends the file as message text. This is the normal behavior of both elm and mailx. Sending attachments is a MIME function, so you must set the MIME-type in the message header to make this work.
